Set for Friday and Saturday, June 29 & 30th, 2018, this year’s installment of the long-running Nashville makers market is shaping up to be another can't miss summer event, with seasonal additions, new partners and a spacious location — plus the world-class mix of vendors longtime attendees have come to expect.

Nashville’s Porter Flea was launched in July 2011, with a focus on celebrating modern handmade goods. Now in its sixth year, the juried and curated, semi-annual market is led by Katie Vance and her husband, HollerDesign owner Matt Alexander, who continue an emphasis on the handmade art and design movement, local businesses and community building. Samasama Art Show + Gathering

Soul & Ink and Batang Kankaloo present the 2nd Annual SAMASAMA Art Show & Gathering, a volunteer run exhibition held in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May at Shopkeepers. This show will present original work by artists of color from diaspora communities. The theme of the exhibit is bayanihan, which refers to the spirit of communal unity, work, and cooperation to achieve a particular goal.

Join us for an evening of art and atmosphere at Shopkeepers. Food and beverage provided by MakettoFeaturing live screen printing by Soul & Ink and Les Talusan a.k.a. The Pinstriped Rebel curating an all-vinyl set by Asian American and Pacific Islander musicians.

Live paintings by both Cita Sadeli CHELOVE and Maria Miller HASAKO.

Kicheko Goods, founded by jewelry artist Sarah Bayot, will be sharing their first private label capsule. They are proud to launch this special handmade collection based on concepts and relationships inspiring them this season. Designed in D.C. Handmade in Kenya.

Crafty Bastards' annual fall festival will take place outdoors in Washington, D.C. on Saturday,November 11 and Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Nationals Park, 10 AM - 5 PM both days.

The Makers Mart Arts & Craft Fair features a pop-up artisan market, promoting local women artists and designers who create handcrafted art and merchandise. A wide variety of products, including jewelry, fine art, home accents, and personal accessories will be available.

Tickets will be sold at the door. General admission is $10, $8 for seniors and students, and members are free. Children under 18 are free.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. In celebration, Soul & Ink and Batang Kankaloo are hosting SAMASAMA Art Show and Gathering on May 24, 2017 to benefit Asian American LEAD (AALEAD) youth programs.

The phrase “SAMASAMA” is derived from the Malay language and is Tagalog/Pilipino for “you are welcome”; “all together”; “united”. 

This one night only pop-up art show aims to share the Asian Pacific American perspective, raising our voices collectively. By doing so, acknowledging we’re part of a whole, that we are all in this together. 

Suggested $5 donation at the door. Gather for the cause. Proceeds + 10% of art sales will go to AALEAD. AALEAD’s youth programs provides academic and enrichment support to low income and underserved youth in the DC metro area.
