My work hosted an event yesterday which had distinguished speakers from the DMV area who have poured over 25 years of service to DC. My charge for this event was to create a welcoming space in the front of house for guests and speakers. One of the elements I was pretty excited about was the DIY reclaimed liquor bottles. In the brainstorming process, we searched for handmade and masculine elements that would complement the theatre space and event branding. What we came up with was a palette of grey, gold and glass incorporating the following pieces: grey tablecloths, dark stained wooden crates, reclaimed liquor bottles, and a twist on the standard floral arrangement.

Thanks to some friends, we found ourselves with an assortment of glass bottles: Tanqueray, Jack Daniels, Bushmills, Elijah Craig, Finlandia, Fireball, and Jameson. We washed and peeled the labels off and painted 4-6 coats of chalk paint around the body. Positioning the bottles according to height and shape in the wooden crates, I arranged dune grass, baby's breath, blackbeard wheat stems, and gray goldenrod flowers into the repurposed vases. Set against the gilded mirrors, blotted gold foil paint, and the classic reds throughout the theatre; the design created a classy and warm environment. Success!
