Palette: NY Fashion Week - Spring 2014

Kaufman Franco (left), self-described being "about a new sensuality: a collision of contrasts and a balance of refinement and rebellion," this is a house to track with. The detail and richness of this simple trench is understated but when looked at and felt closer, represents their mix of sophistication, function, and edge. Philanthropic, artistic, entrepreneurial, and all woman, Donna Karan's (right) career is best characterized by her own words, "That I'm a woman makes me want to nurture others, fulfill needs and solve problems. At the same time, the artist within me strives for beauty, both sensually and visually. So design is a constant challenge to balance comfort with luxe, the practical with the desirable."

Prints, bold colors, expert tailoring, and luxurious fabrics, all layered and cut to mix textures, accentuate silhouettes, and create bold, beautiful statements. These are a few of the eye-catching pieces from Days 3-7 of #NYFW.  Joanna Mastroianni (left) is an American designer with a European-influenced eye and strives to create couture and ready-to-wear all at the same time using modern sensibility, feminine tailoring, and imaginative design. Bibhu Mohapatra (center) hails from both Utah State University and the house of Halston. Known for his deft tailoring, sumptuous gowns, and elaborate looks, he is a favorite of many women including First Lady, Michelle Obama. Fashion Shenzhen (right), sponsored by the Shenzhen government, featured 15 local designers and showcased the design strength and potential of this Chinese city - home to 3,000 garment companies.

Michael Kors (left), the seminal Americana designer, brought a sexy, sporty, elegant collection to the runway. FIT, Céline, Project Runway, 400 stores in 89 countries - Kors' talent and longevity are proven since '81. Zac Posen (center) showcased a commanding collection of incredibly constructed and feminine pieces. The ability of his gowns to exude imagination and identity contribute to his growing atelier located in Tribeca.
