As all good things must come to an end, the last day of #NYFW displayed their interpretations for what Spring 2014 holds. Ralph Lauren's collection was whites, plays on white & black patterns (checks, plaid, florals, stripes, diagonal Greek squares, etc.), signature Ralph blacks, and lots of solid bolds & neons. It was a delineated collection between boarding school-inspired looks and diaphanous dresses. Known for their immaculately embellished gowns, Marchesa's collection imagined a deconstructed midsummer's-night-dream theme set in an edgy 1930's bedroom. The pieces took on lace, draped pearls, textured fabrics, painted on tattoos, and lingerie-inspired dresses.
Marc Jacobs' #NYFW finale was as if each of his influences for the season played bumper cars and then became one giant transformer. Apocalyptic-beach meets Gothic was the setting for the assembly line of blonde flaxen bobs, Victorian adornments on oversized jackets, summer bottoms, and the beautifully made gowns (favorite top right). NY Fashion Week came. It saw. It sauntered. Now across the pond, London Fashion Week hits next. Oy!
